Wait... That’s My Spirit Animal? My first blog - who is my spirit animal

My First Unexpected Connection with Elephants in Thailand

I recently visited Thailand with my family for a holiday, and there were two experiences that truly stood out. Today, I want to share just one.

As we planned our trip, I was especially excited about Day 3—the day we’d be visiting elephants and spending time with them in the wild. It was something completely new for all of us, and I could hardly wait.

But the day before the visit, something unexpected happened. I started feeling… emotional. Every time I thought about meeting the elephants, a wave of feelings washed over me—though I couldn’t quite explain why. I mentioned it to my son and husband, and when they asked why I was feeling this way, all I could say was, “I don’t know.”

And then, the day arrived.

We hopped into a minibus, buzzing with excitement, and set off to meet these gentle giants. When we arrived, I was awestruck—the elephants were majestic, wise, and, 85 years old.

First glimpse!

At first, I was a little nervous (they are seriously massive!), but that feeling quickly faded. We splashed mud on them, bathed them, and said goodbye with full hearts.

Me nervous? Nooooooo...

Finally!

As I reflected on the experience and the emotions leading up to it, everything suddenly made sense.

Realization...

For the past several years—ever since I moved to the UK—I’ve been celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi, the festival that honors Lord Ganesh, the elephant-headed god of wisdom, intellect, and new beginnings. I began celebrating it here without any defined purpose; it was simply a feeling—an instinctive call to welcome him and care for him each year. It came to me so naturally, something I felt deeply drawn to, even before I fully understood why.

Looking back now, I see it clearly: Ganesha had always been present, in my heart and my home. But in Thailand, I met his spirit in a new form—through this beautiful, wise, and soulful animal. The connection I felt was already a part of me, woven into my being long before I recognized it.

Here are some pictures from our Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations over the years—moments that now feel even more special and deeply connected than ever before.

So yes — I now believe the elephant is one of my spirit animals (because , we can have more than one!). And it feels so right. My first blog - who is my spirit animal

Is the Elephant Your Spiritual Guide? Here’s What It Means...

I did a little research afterward and discovered that if the elephant is your spirit animal, it symbolizes wisdom, strength, and resilience. It also represents the ability to remove obstacles—just like Lord Ganesha does. Quite amazing, isn’t it?

Yet, their immense strength also carries burdens—unreleased emotional weight or overwhelming responsibilities. They serve as a reminder to seek healing and embrace change.

What Happened Next? My Second Unforgettable Experience!

Stay tuned — I’ll be sharing the second unforgettable experience from my holiday very soon. This journey of discovery is just getting started.
